Livesport Prague Open 2023 to feature Czech stars
Two of the
biggest stars of the Livesport Prague Open 2023 will be the winners of the last
two editions, Barbora Krejčíková and Marie Bouzková. The 14th edition of
Czechia’s highest-ranked women’s tennis tournament will take place between
Monday, 31 July and Sunday, 6 August on the hard courts of the Sparta Prague
Tennis Club.
The highest seeded player to feature on the entry list which was compiled and published by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) is Grand Slam winner and current World No. 11 Barbora Krejčíková, while the 33rd player of the WTA Rankings, Marie Bouzková, will do her best to defend her Livesport Prague Open title from last year.
“As usual, the main attraction of our tournament are Czech players, which is why I’m really glad that at least six of them will be starting in the main phase of the tournament,” started tournament director Miroslav Malý, “aside from Barbora Krejčíková and Marie Bouzková, Barbora Strýcová and Linda Nosková will also be participating.”
“Together with the Czech Tennis Association, we also have Wild Cards prepared for two Czech hopefuls,” added Malý, “this year will also be special for Czech fans since it will be the very last time they get to see Barbora Strýcová play in Czechia.”
Tickets for playing days went on sale on Thursday, 1 June through Ticketportal. The price of admission for Sunday's final, as well as for Saturday's semi-final matches, is CZK 450 for a designated seat in the stands, while for each playing day from Monday to Friday, admission to the grounds without designated seating will be CZK 300 per person.
The tournament will be played across three courts in the Sparta Prague Tennis Club complex and all-day non-transferable tickets are valid for all matches on that given day. All-day admission for one day of qualifying, which will be played the weekend before the main phase starts, is CZK 150. Each ticket guarantees a seat on the central court, while access to the stands of courts 1 and 2 will be on a first come, first served basis. The capacity of the central court is 2500 spectators. Children under the age of three without a seat are admitted free of charge.
Playing days will start at 11:00, except for the final, and on Sunday play will begin at 13:00.
Players with Russian and Belarusian passports are also on the entry list, as is the case at tournaments across the world, including this year’s Wimbledon.
“We have addressed the situation with the responsible state authorities and informed them that we have no influence on the list of registered players. We fully respect the valid government decision,” said Malý.
“The nationality of these players will not be presented in any way during the event, they will be appearing strictly as private individuals, just as they have at other tournaments across the world.”
