Livesport Prague Open coming in July 2021!
The traditional WTA 250 tennis tournament will take place in the TK Sparta Prague complex this year from 12 to 18 July, untraditionally on hard courts. Qualification will start on July 10. Thanks to the new main partner, the official name of the tournament is now the Livesport Prague Open.
Instead of the turn of April and May, the tournament will take place on a more attractive date in mid-July, immediately after the Wimbledon (and before the US Open). The change was due to a reorganization of the WTA calendar.
"I believe that thanks to a later date we can look forward to more stable weather, especially this year it also gives hope for the presence of spectators in the stands, which we really hope for after all the restrictions caused by the covid pandemic," tournament director David Trunda said.
The new date is not the only news. The tournament has won a new main partner for this year. The tournament will be called "Livesport Prague Open". Another significant change is the surface. Clay will be replaced by faster hard courts this year.
Intensive negotiations are already taking place with players from the Czech Republic and abroad towards the event, which has been a part of the WTA calendar since 2015.
