Day 2: Successful start for Errani

Former Grand Slam finalist Sara Errani started her Prague campaign succesfully but had to spent 3 hours on the court. Another former Grand Slam finalist, Eugenie Bouchard, lost in two sets. Czech tennis prodigy Lucie Havlíčková shocked Riya Bhatia with 6:0, 6:0 win.


15-year-old Lucie Havlíčková entered the Prague Open tournament in an incredible way. She shocked Riya Bhatia from India (346) and crushed her opponent 6:0, 6:0. In 54 minutes, the match was done and the Czech prodigy advanced to the second round after an excellent performance.

Eugenie Bouchard returned to Prague. The Canadian tennis player and former Wimbledon finalist received a wild card for the last WTA tournament, which took place in Prague earlier in August. But Bouchard has to say goodbye to Prague after her opening match at the second WTA event. Against Renata Zarazua (189.), she lost the first set 0:6. The a rain break helped her, but she lost the tiebreak of the second set and lost in two sets.

Another former Grand Slam finalist played in Prague on Sunday. Italian Sara Errani (151.) is a former world number 5 and played the finals of the 2012 Roland Garros. She started as the sixth seed in the Prague tournament and in the first round she was to confirm her role as a favorite against Argentine Paula Ormaechea (265). But the first set was won by her opponent 6:0. Errani then leveled the game, and after a huge fight, she won 0:6, 7:5 and 7:6 (7). She had to spend over three hours on the court.
