Birthday girl Sanders and a Halep’s colourful sport kit
On Wednesday, August 12, the dream doubles team Barbora Strýcová and Simona Halep entered the courts at TK Sparta Praha. After a long battle, the pair got defeated, and Strýcová had to say goodbye to the tournament for good. What you definitely could not miss on the court was a colourful sport kit worn by Simona Halep. Did the top attract you as well? Well, then we can tell you that the kit is from this year’s Nike Paris Summer ´20 Collection which was designed for a clay season, especially for Roland Garros. The whole collection is inspired by Paris and its street style. Specifically, this top presents a tennis player volleying, the orange colour is supposed to symbolize the clay from Roland Garros.
Due to the global pandemic, the famous Paris Grand Slam was postponed and will take place in late September and early October, therefore, Prague Open 2020 tournament is one of the few options where tennis players can show up in a new kits designed for this season. Nevertheless, not only Simona Halep has been seen in this kit in Prague, for example Genie Bouchard from Canada played her first match on the courts of TK Sparta Prague in an attractive blue-red striped tennis dress. Earlier, you could have also noticed seen Petra Kvitová, who is one of the main stars in Nike campaign, in interesting and unique design pieces.
We also have one birthday girl among the players this week. Australian tennis player Storm Sanders just turned 26 yesterday. The director of the tournament David Trunda treated the surprised player with a bottle of the excellent wine Senior Bortolomiol brand from the traditional Italian region of Valdobbiadene as a birthday gift from the entire organizing team. "It was very nice, I didn't expect it at all and I was really pleased with the congratulations and the gift," the sympathetic Australian praised herself.
Although Kristýna Plíšková has been doing well so far, she got a bit sweaty today during answering various questions live on our Instagram. Earlier that day, she defeated tournament number two seed and world number 14 player Petra Martic from Croatia and made it into the quarterfinalist of the tournament where she will play against Ana Bogdan from Romania. “How do you feel about the upcoming match with Ana?” That was also one of the questions that Kristýna's fans sent. Take a look at the chat recording on our official Instagram account. You will also find out which series is Kristýna currently watching, which country she would like to visit or whether she has a tennis idol. By the way, it is interesting to see that the fans liked the topic of "favorite emoji" and every tennis player we interviewed had to show off her favourite emoji to the camera. That might be worth a short cut, what do you say?
